SMART CARD SPECS

By Dean

A World smart card serves as a personal electronic storage which the individual carries with him. In effect, it is an electronic wallet which will bring on the technological change we all anticipate. It joins the World into an Global information network without the expense of large central systems or telephone lines.

The card must store single copies of an individual's records, in the form of data, digital voice and video.

The format of the information records must be agreed to a priori by a General Agreement on Informatics and Automation conference.

The data on the card must be unique and the most recent version of a record. That is to say that any updates to any GAIA system anywhere in the World must also be reflected on the card.

All data on the card is to be secured by a PIN number, giving the holder the opportunity to protect his/her privacy under any and all circumstances.

Information written to the card must be done only at those systems which are part of the GAIA agreement, be they public or private. The card holder may read the data at any time, using only his PIN number to decrypt the encryption sequence used at write time.

A full data encryption will be done with the unique encryption algorithm generated from the individual's own World Identification Number, his PIN number, the writing system's GAIA node key and the data itself. The authorization string is a function of the PIN and the data binary value and position. Any unauthorized modifications can be detected off line.

The card must be electronically copyable, either partially or in full, for backup purposes. However it must also provide for the differentiation of a copy and the one and only original card. This being achieved by a randomly oscillating crystal located in GAIA acceptable coordinates on the card itself.

The WIN number must be known only electronically. It is not to be given to the individual, nor written, spoken or in any way passed in a Human intelligible way.

All WIN numbers are electronically anonymous at the node sites. Any association of a WIN number with a person or his location requires that person's prior knowledge and consent.

The card must be magnetically and optically isolated. It must not contain contacts or exposed interfaces, other than an indication of the direction it is to be inserted into the reader.

No electrical power must be required to keep the information on the card. The use of flash memory technology is recommended.
